Wonderful spot for no BS, traditional, dim sum and entrees! I loved how the garlic aroma came through in the green beans! The chow fun was well seasoned but wish the soy sauce taste was more homogenous. The salt and pepper wings are wonderful!! The meat fell off the bones and was so crispy. The siu mai was really great as well! They did not skimp on the shrimp and pork, and it was quite juicy and well seasoned. Overall, would definitely come back to get the chow fun, siu Mai, and salt and pepper wings.

Journey to the Dumpling is a fantastic option for either lunch or dinner. I visited with a friend and we sampled the pork soup dumplings, pork and chives dumplings, and garlic noodles. The service was top-notch. Our server, Henry, was very personable and efficient. He explained the proper way to eat the dumplings and was highly attentive to our needs, providing precise and exceptional service. The food was outstanding! The soup dumplings were bursting with flavor and was my favorite. The pork and chives dumplings were also delicious, and the garlic noodles were both comforting and tasty. The dumplings are served with garlic sauce and chili sauce upon request, both of which are a must-have. The interior was clean and spacious. You can do family style and all share which I would recommend so you can try everything! Wonderful experience.

Honestly a better and cheaper Din Tai Fung restaurant. They offer big portions and the flavor of each dish always hits the spot. They tend to be crowded so hop on the waitlist ahead of time. I definitely recommend going in ordering family style so you're able to eat and try bunch of different dishes. Theres just so much to choose from. Anything salt and pepper on the menu is a hit! Not pictured, but the greens beans and chow fun are a must have as well. Whenever my friends and I need a fix of dumplings or siu mai, we'll think of Journey to the Dumpling right away. It's a must try if you're in the Sacramento area!

This place was solid good food. We did get the togo which did alter it a bit, but I still enjoyed the meal. I would say that some of the items were a bit too much dough for me. The soup dumpling dough felt thick and the scallion wrap could use more filling. It was purely on the food itself since I did not get a chance to come in and pick it up. Can't really say anything about the service or the ambiance.

The place is fine. Typical chinese/asian restaurant. All of their food is good. Love that it is always come to us freshly cooked. It just takes time to come for our shrimp fried rice which normally should come first since it's a rice. They don't have enough staff, they are so busy that they don't always come back to us to check on us. I have to call them to have refill on our water and to get some napkins. The table is a little bit small for the 4 people and we have like 7-8 dishes ordered. Their service is a little bad. They are always in a hurry to go after they take your order or bring your order. Hoping they change their service because their food is great! Their service is like 2.5/5 and the food is 5/5.

Came here tonight. And food is still amazing. Service is still amazing. Interestingly. No wait time. Just try the siu mai and pork and crab dumpling. Chili oil is great too.

My friends and family all love this restaurant, including me. It's easily one of my favorite restaurants in Elk Grove/Sacramento, from the ambiance, to service and of course the amazing food. Each time I've been here, it's been a full house and packed with customers. The place is filled with a lively and happy atmosphere. I've tried many dishes at Journey to the Dumpling but during my latest visit I tried the Honey Walnut Shrimp, Mantou Baos, Xiao Long Bao, Tan Tan Mian, and Fujian Fried rice. You cannot go wrong with the XLB, they're a must get if you come to Journey to the Dumpling. One of the best XLB I've ever had! The fujian fried rice is super tasty as well! And for dessert, I always have to get the mantou bao with condensed milk. Absolutely love this place and will be back very soon!

Food: 2 orders of soup filled dumplings - The soup filled dumplings are consistently delicious Comes with 2 sides of sauce : soy sauce mixed with vinegar They put the smallest amount of ginger in only one container unfortunately and after coming here many times I have noticed this is a pattern so next time I will be asking for an extra side of ginger. 1 chow mein - It came with shrimp and chicken the noodles were a bit dry the flavor was minimal. Probably wouldn't order this dish again. Always super busy place with people waiting in line to get seated.
